We are pleased to announce that a special workshop will be held on Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) in Construction Education at the conference. This workshop will engage international academics in debate and discussion about a range of issues relevant to the delivery of OH&S in the education of professionals and practitioners in the construction industry. Themes to be explored in this workshop include (but are not limited to):
- The extent and adequacy of current OH&S content in construction courses;
- What should be taught in terms of construction OH&S?
- The best way to deliver OH&S content to construction students;
- Cooperative learning models and industry involvement;
- Models of good practice in integrating OH&S into construction education; and
- Assessment of learning objectives relating to construction OH&S.
The workshop will bring together an international group to discuss how academics can contribute to the improvement of OH&S in the construction industry through the delivery of robust education to those who will enter professional and managerial positions in the industry. We invite the submission of both scholarly papers (which will be peer reviewed) and abstracts for presentation at this workshop.
Papers and abstracts submitted to the workshop will be collated and included in a Special Report on OH&S in Construction Education, which will be made available through the CIB W099 Working Commission.
