Helen Marshall
Federal Safety Commissioner

Helen Marshall was appointed Federal Safety Commissioner (FSC) in August 2008. As FSC, Helen's role is to improve OHS performance in the building and construction industry through consultation and collaboration.

Barry Sherriff
Partner, Freehills

Barry Sherriff is the lead Partner of the national OHS practice of Freehills. Barry’s focus in practice is on proactive OHS improvement and governance strategies, culture and leadership, and effective risk management.

Matt Gillen, MS, CIH
Construction Sector Program Coordinator, National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), USA

Matt Gillen, MS, CIH is the Construction Sector Program Coordinator for the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health Construction Program at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Since joining NIOSH in 2000, he has worked to coordinate and plan construction research efforts and build stronger relationships between researchers and the construction industry.

Dr. Brian M. Kleiner
Director, Center for Innovation in Construction Safety and Health Research and Macroergonomics and Group Decision Systems research Laboratory, Virginia Tech., USA

Dr. Brian M. Kleiner is director of the Center for Innovation in Construction Safety and Health Research, and director of the Macroergonomics and Group Decision Systems research Laboratory at Virginia Tech. He is Professor of Industrial and Systems Engineering. He is currently adjunct professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering, adjunct professor of Building Construction and is a core faculty member in the Myers-Lawson School of Construction.

Sue Pilkington
General Manager, Safety Action Pty Ltd.

Sue has over thirty years experience in OHS and risk management in leading global Construction, FMCG, Agribusiness and Packaging organisations.

She has extensive experience in strategic and operational risk management and project management, with a proven ability to lead change to deliver effective and sustainable solutions.

Sue holds a Graduate Diploma in Occupational Hazard Management and is a Fellow of both the Safety Institute of Australia and the Risk Management Institution of Australia. She is President of the Victoria Division (Inc) of the Safety Institute of Australia (SIA) and chairs the Legislative Stream of the National Technical Panel of the SIA.

Carl Luttig
Chief Executive Officer, Zeal Consulting

Carl is the Managing Director of ZEAL Group Pty Ltd which was founded in 1996. ZEAL’s service is to provide innovative and preventative health and safety (Safety) services to top tier companies enabling protection from workplace incident, injury and death through Safety Culture Transformation. Carl has framed and articulated the vision for Safety as a means of driving Business Transformation, using Safety as the Trojan Horse. Carl has a reputation as an industry leader in Safety and Business Transformation.

Bernie Cooper
Chief Executive Officer, Silcar

Bernie Cooper is Chief Executive Officer of Silcar Pty. Limited, Silcar’s purpose is to maximise the economic and social benefits from investments in large and technically complex assets. It provides asset management, design, construction, operations and maintenance services across many industries including telecommunications, electrical power, manufacturing and mining. Silcar is a 3,000 person organisation based in Australia and is owned by Siemens and Thiess. Bernie joined Silcar in July, 2000.

Dr Tony Golsby-Smith
Director,2nd Road

Tony is the founder and CEO of 2nd Road, a consultancy pioneering the use of language and design to transform organisations into intelligent, innovative communities.
Based in Australia, Tony is a master of the innovation process and a thought leader on the global stage. He was awarded the prestigious Visiting Chair of Design at Carnegie Mellon University in 1995 and is currently a Fellow of the Batten Institute at Darden School of Business, University of Virginia, focusing on using Strategic Conversations™ to generate corporate innovation.

John Merritt
Executive Director, WorkSafe Victoria

John is the Executive Director of Health and Safety at WorkSafe Victoria. WorkSafe is the occupational health and safety regulator for the State Government of Victoria, and part of the Victorian WorkCover Authority. John has an extensive background in workplace health and safety and has held senior management roles in leading Australian and international organisations.

The Hon. Tim Pallas
Victorian Minister for Roads and Ports

Minister Pallas, Member for Tarneit, has taken up the new portfolio of Roads and Ports in the Victorian State Government. Before his election to Parliament, he was Chief of Staff to the Premier of Victoria, a position he held since October 1999 (after serving as Chief of Staff during Premier Bracks' period as Leader of Opposition from March to October 1999).

Peter Godfrey
National President, Engineers Australia

Peter Godfrey is the National President of Engineers Australia, an organisation of nearly 90,000 members that is dedicated to promoting and advancing the science and practice of engineering. He is a civil engineer whose thirty year professional career spans employment with several major companies in various senior management roles. A decade ago he started his own consultancy practice, BAS Consulting, which has a focus on business improvement, asset management and project management activities.

Bill Wild
Chief Executive Officer, Leighton Holdings

A graduate of the University of Queensland and the University of NSW . Appointed Chief Operating Officer in 2006 with responsibility for Leighton Contractors, Thiess and Leighton Asia.

Peter Verwer
Chief Operating Officer, The Property Council of Australia

Peter Verwer is Chief Executive of the Property Council Australia, which is the nation's leading advocate for the $600 billion investment property industry.

As well as pursuing its core business of advocacy and public affairs, the Property Council operates learning, research, publishing and networking businesses.

Peter Scott
Chairman, Sinclair Knight Mertz

Peter Scott was elected Chairman of Sinclair Knight Merz Management Pty Limited in October 2007.

Peter Scott joined the SKMM Board as a Non Executive Director in March 2005. An Engineer by training, Peter returned to Sinclair Knight Merz after almost 20 years, having worked in the firm's Melbourne office in the late 1980's.
